The Inspiration
This is the signature painting from my solo exhibition of the same title ENUF. The project, funded in part by the Iowa Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, started as an exhibition of my paintings and my spoken word album. It has evolved into an interdisciplinary performance by a cast of spoken word artists, painters, musicians, and dancers.
"ENUF" is more than a word; it’s a declaration, a promise to ourselves, and a movement toward freedom. It's about casting aside the weight of expectations and fears, the “shoulds” and “musts” that bog us down and embracing a new way of being.
I created "ENUF" to remind you—and anyone willing to enjoy the art—that you are already whole. You don’t need to earn your place; you already belong.
Whether you're a joyful free spirit, an ambitious and adventurous soul, or someone who's easy going...you've probably also weathered storms. This series was created to bring joy, confidence, resilience, and hope to life in visual form.
Speaking of hope, it's my greatest hope that when you see this art in your home everyday, you are reminded of the fact that you are more than "enough" (or 'enuf') and you're perfect just as you are.

The original painting has been exhibited at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art and in collaboration with the African American Museum of Iowa. It is now in a private collection.
