The Inspiration
LOVE NOTES are a meditation on movement, connection, and harmony. Inspired by Ntozake Shange's I Live in Music, the paintings are visual poetry in motion, a conversation in gestural lines looping and unfurling like breath.
Each painting is designed to stand alone or live alongside others in a pair or trio or constellation. They’re connected and interconnected, yet each holds its own vibrant energy, its own rhythm, its own aliveness.
As I made these, it was in contemplation of our humanity.
How we are singular and also inseparable.
How our stories overlap, flow into one another, harmonize.
How love (including self-love) has always been both tender and revolutionary.
These small works ask:
What does it mean to belong to one another, stand with each other?
How do we stay soft-curved and compassionate in hard times?
How do we keep choosing connection when division feels louder?
They’re visual love notes. And an invitation to live with intention:
To flow outside the boundaries.
To color outside the lines, figuratively and literally.
To build a home—and a world—piece by piece (or as my uncle says, "peace by peace"), together.
