The title is taken from my own written work which I originally performed in the historical context of Ferguson, NYC, and Barack Obama as president. I continue to work hard af offering these sentiments to my daughters:
"Remember that love and forgiveness are in our blood.
Remember that honesty and trust are a part of us.
Remember that sincerity trumps racism and bigotry.
Remember that if it won't take your hand,
then grab this world by the throat
and give it the best you can."
It's a tightrope we walk between joy/freedom and everything on the other side of that.
